Client Challenge
A private equity firm was competing for its largest deal to date in a competitive process. They needed to gain insights into the target company’s leadership capabilities without alienating its management team.
The sponsors sought clarity on the contributions of current leaders in building the business to date and whether their proposed successors could effectively take over and drive growth going forward.
They also wanted to evaluate how the broader organization was likely to respond to any changes in leadership.
Mukala Approach
Mukala conducted interviews and personality diagnostics to assess each key leader's strengths and weaknesses, as well as openness to leadership transitions across the broader team.
Our feedback gave the private equity sponsor confidence to proceed with the deal and helped shape a focused 100-day roadmap.
We collaborated with the sponsor and management to finalize leadership transition plans, clarify roles and responsibilities, and address key dependencies.
Post-close, Mukala continued to support the leadership team with developmental tools and actionable growth plans.

Outcomes
The leadership team brought Mukala back for a second round of 360 assessments post-deal to expand individual developmental insights across the team. This created a stronger foundation for growth.
We facilitated team sessions to help leaders process the Organizational Assessment and create actionable plans. These sessions drove alignment and equipped the team to hit the ground running.
We also coordinated alignment sessions between the executive team and their private equity sponsors to ensure all parties were on the same page and ready to accelerate value creation.
“Mukala brought energy and insight to the process. They provided meaningful feedback and actionable next steps that pushed us to better understand ourselves and our colleagues. By highlighting our unique skill sets and drivers, they helped us recognize relative strengths, weaknesses, and different perspectives within the team. Mukala also helped me uncover blind spots and develop strategies to close gaps—whether in meeting my colleagues' expectations or holding myself to a higher personal standard.” - Chief Product Officer
